Training Program Overview

Here at the Structural Pest Management Training & Research Facility (SPMTF) we offer a variety of training programs in an effort to support the pest management industry of North Carolina. In association with NCDA&CS, NC State is recognized as the premier CCU granting body in North Carolina for pest management professionals. While our courses are built around serving this key stakeholder group, they are accessible and available to anyone who is interested in signing up!
Our training program is divided into two broad categories: our Core Courses and our Technical Courses. These group our material based on content, and general course format. We offer both Core and Technical courses on a rotational and quarterly basis, meaning each of our incredible courses only come around 2 times per year, so don’t miss your chance to sign up! See below for brief outlines of our general course structure, and visit each respective page to learn more and register for our upcoming courses

Core Course Program
This is the backbone of our training program here at the facility. Our Core Courses are marked by their focus on “core” aspects of pest management, centered on classroom learning and building expertise! This focus ranges from pest biology and behavior, to identification and management, and even into fundamentals of construction and regulatory compliance. Click HERE for more information on our current offering of Core Courses!
Technical Course Program
If our Core Courses are our backbone, then our Technical Courses are our flesh and blood – putting pest management foundations and training into practice! In these multi-day courses we partner with folks beyond NC State, including NCDA&CS and NCDHHS, to bring you premier hands-on training and experience with the experts! These courses include in-classroom and field components, getting hands on with the latest and greatest in pest management tools and technology, to level up your skills and propel you forward in your career. Click HERE for more information on our current offering of Technical Courses!
Custom Course Program
Beyond the courses offered at our training center, we offer custom and tailored training opportunities to companies and organizations both large and small, depending on need and availability. This can include us bringing our courses to you and your team, or working with you to develop a custom training experience to meet the specific goals of your company! This program is new, and participation is limited, email Patricia Alder (pmalder@ncsu.edu) to inquire!
You may view and register for any of our currently offered courses through the WolfPest App (go.ncsu.edu/wolfpest) or by visiting go.ncsu.edu/pestworkshops.
