Termite Technical Course
The Termite Technical Course is a 2 day-long workshop, and is the flagship technical course of the SPMTC. This course was developed in partnership with NCDA, and is still taught in collaboration with them. While it has gone through several iterations, formerly called the Termite Technician Program, this technical course has continued to improve and expand – keeping pace with industry and cutting edge developments in termite management. On day 1 of the course you will hear from experts on termite biology and behavior, in-depth information on colony structure and risk, rules and regulations governing termite treatments in NC, and get hands on with some of the latest in termite management technology. On day two, we get dirty! You’ll spend the day performing mock termite inspections on our termite pavilion, getting face-to-face with various construction elements, and traveling to a nearby residence to identify and discuss conducive conditions. After lunch we head back outside to our pavilion where you will rotate through three technical skill stations – Drilling & Rodding, Trenching & Flooding, Bait Station Install & Inspection. This course stands as the premier termite training opportunity in North Carolina, and we look forward to seeing you there! This course is approved for 10 W-phase CCU’s.

Outdoor Technical Course
The Outdoor Technical Course is a 2 day-long technical course at the SPMTC. This course will cover outdoor structural pests including mosquitoes, ticks, fire ants, peri-domestic cockroaches, and more! The course will include some classroom learning but will mostly focus on hands-on activities and demos in the field, including fire ant mound treatment, mosquito fogging, and more! This course is approved for 10 P-phase CCU’s.
Indoor Technical Course
The Indoor Technical Course is a 2 day-long workshop, and is the newest multi-day technical course of the SPMTC. This course will cover indoor structural pests including domestic cockroaches, bed bugs, houseinvading ants, and more! The course will include some classroom learning but will mostly focus on hands-on activities and demos in a nearby house, including using baits, sticky traps and vacuums for cockroaches, baiting for ants and treating for fleas. This course is approved for 10 P-phase CCU’s.
Registered Technician Bootcamp
The RT Bootcamp is a day-long workshop that goes above and beyond the yearly minimum requirements to include in depth coverage of understanding pesticide labels, PPE (types, proper usage, care and maintenance), personal safety, application equipment, and site evaluations. This course includes a blend of classroom and hands on learning!
Certified Applicator Prep & Exam
Our Certified Applicator Prep Course is designed for individuals seeking to become certified in structural pest management in NC. Day 1 will cover materials in the Core Manual and Day 2 will cover P-phase and W-phase specific pests. Our last participants in this course had an unprecedented pass rate of 62% – the highest NCDA has seen!
ACE Prep & Exam
Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) is the future of professional pest management. ACE certification can lead to better visibility, opportunities, and jobs. New this year, our ACE Prep Course is designed for individuals seeking their ACE certification. Anyone can become an ACE, as long as they have a minimum of 5 years of verifiable pest management experience, a current pesticide applicator’s license issued in the U.S., and the ability to pass a test on structural pest control knowledge. The major categories of competency covered by the ACE exam can be found here.
